Who we are

Your home
in Málaga

This hostel began at home, in the truest sense. Málaga is where I grew up, and this neighbourhood shaped who I am.

Staying in hostels around Europe taught me what actually matters: a space that feels cared for, not staged. Somewhere you can put your bag down and actually exhale.

I built this with my partner — a home we opened up together. A courtyard for your coffee, a quiet corner to work, a common room where strangers become less like strangers. Simple, well-kept, unpretentious — the way we'd want to be received.

Welcome to Málaga.

Frequently asked questions

Everything you'd want to know before you get here — and if we've missed something, just ask.

Booking

How do I book a stay?

However suits you best! Book straight through our website, or drop us a line by phone, WhatsApp or email — we're happy to help either way.

Do I need a credit card to book?

Yes — we just ask for a valid card to guarantee your reservation, whichever rate you go for. Nothing complicated, just a formality to hold your spot.

How much does it cost to stay?

Great question! Prices depend on your dates and room type, so just pop them into our booking engine and you'll see the exact rate. Prefer to ask a human first? Email us at [email protected] or call (+34) 611 575 585 and we'll happily give you an estimate.

Getting here

Where is Lemon Tree Hostel?

We're right in the heart of it all — Calle González Anaya 16, 29009 Málaga, about a 10-minute stroll from the Cathedral and the Alcazaba, in the historic centre. It's also a wonderfully quiet, residential neighbourhood, so you'll get to experience Málaga the way a local would.

How do I get there from Málaga airport (AGP)?

Getting here is easy! By taxi it's just 15-20 minutes (around €20-25 depending on traffic). Prefer public transport? Hop on airport bus line A to Alameda Principal (about 20 minutes, €3), then it's a short taxi ride or a lovely 15-minute walk to our door.

How do I get there from María Zambrano train station?

Just a 15-minute walk away, or 5 minutes by taxi — an easy, flat stroll through the city, and a nice way to get your first taste of Málaga.

Check-in & check-out

What time are check-in and check-out?

Check-in is from 3pm, and we ask that you check out by 12pm. We don't currently offer late check-out, but our team is always happy to help you make the most of your last morning with us.

What are reception hours?

Our reception is open 8am to 8pm, every single day — so there's almost always someone around to help. Outside those hours, you can always give us a call at (+34) 611 575 585 and we'll sort you out.

Can I arrive outside reception hours?

No problem at all! Just complete online check-in before you arrive, and at your check-in time you'll get a code for the main door and one for your room (just for you, so please don't share it). Haven't checked in online yet? Go ahead and do it before you arrive — and if you run into any trouble along the way, we'll sort it out together.

What ID do I need for check-in?

Just a valid passport or ID card, whether you check in online or in person — standard stuff. Do bring it along: without valid ID we may unfortunately have to turn away the booking, with no refund.

Can I store my luggage before or after my stay?

Of course — we're happy to store your luggage on request, both before check-in and after check-out, so you can explore Málaga without dragging your bags around.

Rooms & amenities

What room types do you have?

We've got a room for every kind of traveller: private rooms (up to 4 people, two double beds), mixed dorms of 4, 6 or 8 beds, and female dorms of 4 or 8 beds. Every room comes with individual lockers, air conditioning and views over our courtyard.

What are the shared bathrooms like?

We love this question! Our shared bathrooms are fully individual and private — each one is a complete, self-contained cubicle just for you. And since we have plenty of them, there's no need to wait in line; you'll have all the privacy you need.

Are bedding and towels included?

Bedding's included, no need to bring your own! Towels are available on request at reception during your stay — just ask. One small thing: there's a €6 fee for any towel not returned at check-out.

Is there free wifi and lockers?

Absolutely — free wifi throughout the hostel, and your own locker in every dorm to keep your valuables safe and sound.

Is there a kitchen?

Yes! Our kitchen and courtyard are yours to cook and eat in whenever you like — just not in the dorms — and the kitchen closes for cooking after 11pm so everyone can get some rest.

House rules

Do you accept pets or visitors?

We love animals, but for everyone's comfort we can only welcome guide dogs, and only in private rooms. We also keep the hostel just for registered guests, so outside visitors aren't able to come in — it's all about keeping things safe and cosy for everyone staying with us.

What are quiet hours, and can I smoke or drink alcohol?

We keep things peaceful between 11pm and 8am in rooms, hallways and the courtyard, so everyone sleeps well. Smoking is only allowed in our outdoor courtyard, never indoors. And yes, you're welcome to enjoy a drink in our common areas (kitchen, lounge, courtyard) until 11pm — just keep it responsible, and please no alcohol in the dorms.
